Yellowjacket Early Learning Center, YELC begins accepting initial interest forms on Wednesday, April 1, 2021. The Yellowjacket Early Learning Center serves children ages 3-5 years old with preference given to children who are preparing to enter kindergarten the following year. Children attending YELC fall in one of several funding sources:
· Early Childhood Special Education
o For children with an Individual Education Plan, (IEP)
o Parents who have concerns about their child’s development may call 816-349-3703.
· Head Start
o For families who meet Head Start federal income guidelines, please contact 816.841.3382 to complete the Head Start enrollment intake process.
· District Pre-K
o District-funded Pre-K slots are available for families who do not meet Head Start guidelines however qualify under the Federal Free and Reduced Lunch Program assistance.
o Parent Pay is for families who do not qualify under any other funding source ( HS, ECSE, F&R). Those families will have the opportunity for placement under a lottery system.
o To be considered for a District Pre-K slot, complete the initial interest YELC form available beginning April 1, 2021.
Please be aware that slots will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis and will be contingent upon the completion of all YELC enrollment requirements. Also important to note, all YELC students will also be required to complete the District residency and enrollment requirements which will begin July 1, 2021.
