Center Friends

Welcome to the Center Friends Mentorship Program!

Center Friends provides positive relationships between caring adults and our students and staff. Center Friends helps volunteers and students form friendships that lead to student success and connections to the school experience. For Center Friends, relationships matter.

Our Center Friends volunteers are friendly, dedicated, and caring individuals. Many of our volunteers have been with us for many years. Center Friends volunteers are part of the Center family.

*Important to note, while our region is experiencing high COVID-19 numbers, we have limited the number of volunteers allowed in our buildings. Center Friends are included in the limited visitor policy.

If you would like to be a Center Friends volunteer:

1. Please fill out the Center Friends Application and Background Family Safety Registry Care Form. You may email forms to Debi Julian at or mail them to:

2. Please click here for the Background Family Safety Registry Care Form, which is the the criminal background check now required to be eligible to participate in the program. 

The background check requires a $14.00 fee and the Center School District will cover the fee. Call Kirsten McNemee with Human Resources to discuss covering the 14 dollar fee. Kirsten’s contact information is 816-349-3352 or Ms. McNemee is located at the Central Office, 8701 Holmes Road.  

We will work with the school to find a student or teacher to match you with. We will schedule a training to help you prepare for this role. Please note it may take some time to receive parent permission slips, before you may begin  working with the student.
