The Center Middle School girls soccer team captured the end-of-season tournament title on Wednesday evening, edging out Pioneer Ridge in a hard-fought battle. The final ended in a 0-0 draw, with Center clinching the win 5-4 on penalty kicks.
The victory capped off a strong season for CMS, finishing with a 10-2 record. It marks the first time in school history the girls team has won the end-of-season tournament.
Penalty kicks were converted by Karina Olivares, Eleanor Fritz, Adelie Craighead, Tylar Hacker, and Scherelle Tsafack. McIntyre came up big with a crucial save on Pioneer Ridge’s seventh attempt, and Tsafack sealed the win with the final kick.
CMS's only two losses of the season came against Pioneer Ridge. The championship match was their third meeting, and Center made it count when it mattered most.
The Center Middle School boys also had a standout season, making it to the championship match for the first time in school history.
