Center High School senior Rahman A. Franklin has been awarded the prestigious McDowel Scholarship. Rahman plans to attend the University of Missouri–Columbia this fall, where he will pursue a degree in Chemistry with a focus on Food Science. His ultimate goal is to become a flavorist.
Rahman exemplifies both academic excellence and strong leadership. With a 4.25 GPA, he is an active member of the Sankofa Leadership Initiative and the National Honor Society, where he has contributed to numerous community service projects, food drives, and fundraisers.
Beyond academics, Rahman has cultivated a wide range of skills in entrepreneurship, engineering design, and woodworking. He has successfully developed and implemented three business plans and is proficient in tools such as Microsoft Excel, Fusion 360, and Google Sheets.
A first-degree black belt, Rahman also serves as an assistant instructor at Integrity Martial Arts Academy. There, he teaches self-defense with a focus on intentionality, discipline, and thoroughness.
The McDowel Scholarship supports graduating high school senior males in their pursuit of higher education. It was established in honor of Brother Brandon C. Fauntleroy-McDowel, a dedicated community servant and initiate of the Omicron Xi Lambda chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated.
Congratulations, Rahman! Your Center High School family is proud of your achievements, and we celebrate your success now and in the future.
