Center celebrated District Night at the High School basketball game on Wednesday evening. In addition to two girls and two boys basketball games, the All-District pep band (CHS & CMS) performed during both games. The All-District Cheerleading team (CHS, CMS, and the “mini” cheerleaders from all four elementary schools) performed at halftime of the boys game. Of course, lots of family members, alumni, and community members came to watch. The positive energy in the building was tangible. The State of Missouri will celebrate reading on the annual Read-In Day on Friday, March 8 th. Here's how it works. Each of our elementary classes have signed up to have readers at specified times during the day on March 8th. We ask parents, community members, and Center staff to sign up to read. At the specified times, readers will go to the classrooms and read a book aloud for the class. We have created a google form for families, community members and staff to sign up to read to a classroom. Once all the slots are filled for a grade level at a particular school, they will no longer show up on the list. This is open for ANY community member to sign up, so please share with friends and family. We want to have a reader for every class in the district! Center High School is hosting a parlimentary debate tournament on Wednesday, February 7th. This is rescheduled due to a weather cancellation last week. We are looking for community volunteers to serve as judges (yes, you can do it even if you have never been to a debate tournament!). Here is the schedule: 3:30 pm arrival and check in 3:45 pm first round topic announced 4:00 pm first round begins 5:00(ish) second round topic announced 5:15 (or 15 minutes after topic announcement) second round begins 6:30 awards A light supper will be available in the hospitality room 106. Wednesday, January 31st will be a special night for the Center School District. Both Boys and Girls basketball teams will take on the Grandview Bulldogs. Girls Varsity starts at 5:30pm and Boys Varsity begins at 7:00pm. We will also feature a very special performance by all three of our cheerleading groups - the elementary "mini-cheerleaders" along with the squads from Center Middle and Center High Schools. It's a night not to be missed!!

It was a great night in the gym at Center High School last night. There were four basketball games vs. Odessa (girls & boys) and a wonderful performance by our Center Mini-Cheerleaders! The cheerleaders are all students at the four elementary schools in Center. They learned their cheers during a clinic hosted by the Center High School Cheerleading squad under the direction of Ms. Bilie Potts and Ms. Jackie McCree. Lots of parents, grandparents and other family members in attendance cheering them on.

The Yellowjacket Ambassadors, our wonderful group of parents learning how to better support our kids, will be meeting on January 25th at Center Middle School and all families of Center students are invited! The Center High School class of 2026 (sophomores this year) is hosting a fundraiser at Torchy's Tacos at Ward Parkway Shopping Center on January 23rd. Support our kids and have some amazing tacos!! Hours are 10am to 9pm. 15% of all sales are donated to the class.

It's almost Polar Plunge time again! The Center Student Government Association will make their annual trek to Longview Lake to plunge into freezing waters on Saturday, January 27th. It's all to raise money for Special Olympics and our kids (and some staff members) LOVE it! You can help (without getting wet) by sponsoring our team. Due to forecasted very low temperatures and wind chills, Center wil have a Virtual Learning or AMI Day tomorrow, January 16th. Looking ahead to warmer days... Center High School will be hosting a debate tournament next Wednesday afternoon, January 17th and we need volunteer judges to help. No experience needed. This is a great chance to support our kids and listen to some really great student debaters. Need judges for two rounds - first round judges will be there from about 3:45 to 5:00pm and second round from about 5pm to 6:30.
