Center School District families:
We know the government shutdown and loss of SNAP benefits may be creating challenges for families. We want to make sure you know about the food resources available to you:
The National School Lunch program is still running. Anyone who has applied and been approved for SNAP will continue to get free breakfast/lunches at school during the government shutdown.
The Free and Reduced meal application (FRAM) is still available through the Center School District Parent Portal and is still being processed and approved by the district.
Families can find free or reduced cost services like food, transportation, housing assistance, and more through Lift Up KC by Children’s Mercy.
See the Harvesters Community Food Network site for a list of local food pantries, drive-through pantries, and kitchens.
Center School District Mobile Food Pantry: the drive through food pantry is open every second Friday at 9:30 am at the Center High School Warehouse. If you can’t make it to the food pantry, then you can send someone to pick up food for you.
From Nov 3-7, Price Chopper is offering a complimentary hot meal for any child under 12 at the deli hot bar. Meals are served from 4-7 pm.
Please reach out to the social workers, counselors, and administrators at your school if you need additional support or information. These resources are here for you. Please reach out or use them whenever your family needs help.
