Today we salute our neighbors at the Veteran's Community Project. Happy Veteran's Day and thank you for your ongoing service! The work you do for our local veterans is truly amazing!

Congrats to our friends at the Children's Services Fund of Jackson County for passing the renewal of the tax to support our kids by a 75% margin! Thanks to our School Social Workers who use those funds to improve the mental health of our students.

Information update for this Friday's District championship game vs Nevada - ticketing will be advance purchase only. Here's the info from MSHSAA on purchasing tickets -
Navigate to our website to purchase tickets, www.mshsaa.org and click on the blue TICKETS button. Select the football image tile, then class 4, then “Get Tickets” next to your event. You may also download the free Hometown Fan app to manage their purchases and tickets. There will not be a cash option at the gate.

Thanks to the generosity of the Overland Park Rotary Club, Center High School received approximately 2,200 books today to be given the CHS students. Members of the Center technology team helped unload the books and move them to the school library for sorting. CHS Librarian Melissa Storrer will take it from there to get them distributed. Thanks to Center's Elementary Library coordinator, Erin Sharp, for making all the connections.



Yellowjackets beat Carl Junction on a very rainy, windy, and cold evening. Final score is 33-6. Next up is Nevada at Center next Friday at 7pm for the District Championship. Weather promises to be better...

The Center Yellowjackets will take on Carl Junction this evening at 7pm in the semi-final game of the Class 4, District 7 tournament. The game WILL BE PLAYED. If there is lightning in the area, we may have a delay, but we will get the game in this evening.

The Lead to Read program is very excited to be back in person this year at Center Elementary.
Today was a celebration of the 1,000th volunteer working with Lead to Read in Kansas City. It is a young man who works for Labconco and is a new reader at Center Elementary. The Lead to Read team made a special visit today to recognize the 1,000th volunteer with free books for all 2nd grade students at Center Elementary. KSHB TV was there to film the event and their story is scheduled to air during the 6pm newscast this evening.
