The Heart of Center Award recognizes a staff member who goes above and beyond to make a positive difference for students, colleagues, families, and the community. The May 2026 Heart of Center recipients are Ms. Ashley Allen, Administrative Assistant – Academic Services at Central Office and Coach LeDale Wooten, Physical Education Teacher and Head CHS Boys Basketball Coach.
Ms. Ashley Allen exemplifies dedication to the Center School District through her outstanding service as an employee, parent, volunteer, and community leader. In her professional role, Ashley is known for her reliability, attention to detail, and commitment to excellence, consistently going above and beyond to support students, families, and colleagues. At Indian Creek Elementary, she is deeply involved as a parent and currently serves as PTO President, where she works to strengthen connections between families and the school community. Ashley also stepped in to lead the school’s Girl Scout troop this year, ensuring students continued to have meaningful opportunities and experiences.
Colleagues describe Ashley as creative, organized, resourceful, and someone who makes even the most challenging tasks feel manageable. Her positive attitude, professionalism, and thoughtful attention to detail leave a lasting impact on those around her, while her creativity helps make school events welcoming and memorable. Many shared appreciation for the steady support and leadership she provides behind the scenes, often without seeking recognition. Ashley’s dedication, kindness, and commitment to students truly represent the heart of Center School District.
Mr. LeDale Wooten has made a lasting impact on students and families through his steady guidance, honesty, and unwavering support. One parent shared that he has been a trusted source of encouragement and advice for both of their children throughout their four years at school, helping them grow, mature, and better understand life beyond the classroom. Students describe Coach Wooten as a father figure who genuinely cares about their future and consistently pushes them to believe in themselves and strive for success. His ability to lead with authenticity, kindness, and wisdom has made him a trusted mentor and role model within the CAS community.

Colleagues describe Coach Wooten as patient, humble, and someone who brings positivity and stability wherever he goes. Known as “the glue that holds everything together,” he is respected for his calm leadership, caring nature, and willingness to always support others. Staff and students alike appreciate the welcoming environment he creates and the meaningful relationships he builds with everyone around him. A proud Center graduate who attended Center Schools from kindergarten through graduation, Coach Wooten continues to give back to the district that shaped him while also pursuing his passions for music and art.
