October’s Hive Society CSD Employee of the Month exemplifies our core value of safe and respectful schools.
October’s nominee helps make Center School District a place where students and staff are free to be themselves and further discover who they actually are. This person helps everyone around them feel safe not only physically but also emotionally. This is someone who is respectful of everyone – no matter the circumstance.
Hive Society is proud to present this award to Mr. Tyvell Kelly, Custodian at Indian Creek. Congratulations, Mr. Kelly!
Mr. Kelly's IC colleagues had the following to say about him:
"Mr. Kelley has been pivotal this year at Indian Creek. I see him at school at all hours of the day. He's been there at 6pm when I leave and is smiling at 7am, when I walk in. He is always willing to help teachers and students even though I know he has a lot on the to do list. I feel he has done a lot for our building, including giving staff motivational notes when needed. He also has great relationships with the students and is always helping when needed."

This past Wednesday, Center High School students in our Grow Your Own Teacher Academy visited the UMKC School of Education. They were able to hear about the School of Education, fill out the FAFSA, apply to UMKC, and complete a scavenger hunt throughout campus (Campus Tour).

The Center School District Board of Education will hold a regular monthly meeting on Monday, October 24th at 7:00pm at Indian Creek Elementary School (9801 Grand).
