The Heart of Center Award recognizes a staff member who goes above and beyond to make a positive difference for students, colleagues, families, and the community. The October 2025 Heart of Center recipients are Rayshun Scott, Paraprofessional at Center High School, and Kyle Stern, Teaching and Learning Coach at Center Middle School. Scott and Stern were awarded at the October 20, 2025 Board of Education meeting.

Mrs. Scott (pictured above) was nominated by Special Education Teacher Cheryl Bland who said, “Mrs. Scott is absolutely the heart of our program. She always shows up ready to help with a positive attitude, a smile on her face, and a love for our students. She is dedicated to helping them become the best they can be. She assists with on-the-job training and volunteers to attend dances and other programs whenever needed. Mrs. Scott brings her positive attitude and rosy disposition every single day! She inspires the rest of us to remember why we are here and always do what’s best for our students.”

Mr. Stern (pictured below) was nominated by MTSS Coordinator Renee Black who said, “Kyle is an outstanding TLC who consistently exceeds expectations. He goes above and beyond by teaching a class that allows other teachers to observe and experience what a restorative classroom looks, sounds, and feels like. He has a remarkable ability to connect initiatives and explain them clearly. His professional development sessions are always top-notch, filled with practical strategies that make a real difference in the classroom.”
