One year ago, the Center School District was selected to participate in the System Design Zone of a statewide initiative, called Success-Ready Student Network (SRSN),. The purpose is to explore innovative ways to assess student learning to more effectively reflect the skills that help students be prepared for high school coursework and be college, career and workplace ready after graduation. Center has worked with 19 other districts across the state to develop growth-based assessments to replace MAP testing as the sole state measure of academic achievement for state accountability. Participating districts will continue to be required to give the MAP test unless a federal waiver request is approved. That waiver request is under development and will be submitted by participating districts and the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) to the United States Department of Education (USDE) upon completion.
Thanks to the hard work of our staff and the support of the Center Board of Education, Center has the opportunity to participate in this historic work to measure student academic achievement in new and more meaningful ways.
